Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Class Description
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) program at Hammer Training & Fitness focuses on ground fighting and grappling techniques, including building a solid base for defending and escaping from bad positions, reversing and improving position, control from dominant position, and submissions. BJJ classes are taught using the Gi or Kimono (available at Hammer Training & Fitness).
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a relatively modern martial art focusing on ground fighting and grappling techniques. Adapted from roots found in Judo and other Japanese grappling arts, BJJ was adapted in Brazil to emphasize imposing positional dominance relative to a single opponent and eventually ending a fight by submitting that opponent (generally through a joint lock or choke).
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a great standalone martial art, providing a high intensity/low impact workout, and many opportunities to compete for those who choose to test themselves and take their own knowledge further. BJJ also makes a great complement to anyone's existing knowledge and experience in martial arts.
